reflection
VR Experience to tackle game addiction
Description
Reflection is a short VR experience meant for people who are at risk of getting addicted to games. It is based on the concept of exposure therapy which is used by therapists. The VR experience is divided into 3 acts, each act focusing on different goals. The solution can be used by counselors or therapists and with each session, the intensity of the experience can increase. This helps a person to look at gaming as a recreational activity and become a healthy gamer.
Problem Statement

Self-Worth
A game gives an opportunity for a gamer to prove their capability by winning. This gives them a sense of achievement which might not be the case in their real life.
environment
Most of the gamers like to play in a dark environment with minimum lights. They like to live in the virtual world of a game while trying to stay away from the real world.
Acceptance
As gamers continue playing, their needs are met easily and thus, values are difficult to form. These values helps one to stay motivated and take action.
Dichotomy
Games provide an opportunity for people to release stress. This can lead to being toxic in-game and develop aggression overtime.
Social Influence
While playing, gamers gain validation from their friends or colleagues. This soical influence determines one’s playtime.
IDEATION
Ideas were developed by writing about the 360 experience according to the field of vision.
For an ideal FoV (field of vision), content should stay within 30 degrees of head rotation to each side. Vertically, it should be 10 degrees above to 40 degrees below the horizon. This ensures comfort and natural visibility.
