Home Gym CHAIR

Home Gym equipment which blends with interiors

Description

This project introduces home gym equipment designed to seamlessly integrate with modern interiors, enhancing the fitness experience while addressing sedentary lifestyle challenges. By combining functionality and aesthetic appeal, the equipment encourages regular exercise without disrupting home decor. It tackles health risks linked to inactivity, such as cardiovascular issues and mental health concerns, while addressing motivational barriers and urban environmental factors that limit physical activity. Inspired by multifunctional living spaces, the design prioritizes both style and usability to support active living at home.

SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE & IMPORTANCE OF MUSCLE BUILDING

Approximately one-third of the global population aged 15 and older engages in insufficient physical activity, with sedentary behavior averaging over 7 hours daily in many countries. Muscle building exercises are vital for maintaining health and functional independence across all ages. However, participation decreases with age, with only about 14% of adults aged 65 and older meeting the recommended guidelines for strength training.

market research

Current home gym equipment faces several limitations that impact its appeal and functionality.

Many products fail to offer a variety of exercises, limiting their versatility and usefulness. They are often very lightweight or have fixed weights, restricting their adaptability to different fitness levels.

Additionally, most equipment stands out as gym gear, lacking the aesthetic integration to blend seamlessly with home furniture. There is also a notable lack of storage options, making it difficult to keep equipment organized in smaller spaces.

Tech-integrated products tend to be prohibitively expensive, further limiting accessibility. Moreover, most equipment requires additional space to perform exercises, which is impractical for compact living environments.

These drawbacks highlight the need for home gym solutions that are versatile, space-efficient, and visually harmonious with home interiors.

varying resistance

This chair is designed with integrated grooves along its frame, allowing users to attach resistance bands at various levels to customize their workout intensity.

Each set of grooves corresponds to a different resistance level, providing a flexible and adaptable workout experience.

By attaching the bands to higher or lower grooves, users can adjust the tension to suit their strength and fitness goals, making the chair suitable for a range of low-resistance exercises.

DIMENSIONS

The ideal ergonomic seating height for an average Indian adult can be estimated based on anthropometric data, which includes body measurements of the population. For ergonomic dimensions, the following has been considered:

  1. Seat Height: The height of the seat from the floor should typically be around 16 to 18 inches (40 to 46 cm). This allows the feet to rest flat on the floor with the knees at a right angle (90 degrees).

  2. Seat Depth: The depth of the seat should be around 16 to 18 inches (40 to 46 cm) to support the thighs without putting pressure on the back of the knees.

  3. Seat Width: The width of the seat should be at least 18 inches (46 cm) to accommodate the hips comfortably.

  4. Backrest Height: The backrest should support the lower back and ideally be adjustable, with a height ranging from 12 to 20 inches (30 to 51 cm) above the seat.
