Generative Coding
The artwork is a mystic and psychedelic generative visual that dynamically responds to sound. The intricate patterns are formed by small ellipses arranged in wave-like formations, with their behavior driven by microphone input. The sound’s volume determines the type of pattern, while its duration influences its continuity—longer sounds create smoother, more sustained patterns.
The concept began as an attempt to create a lip-syncing generative art piece, aiming for interactivity through audio or video input from a microphone or webcam. This evolved into crafting a mystic, sound-responsive visual. It started with modifying a "jazzy circle" code to simulate lip-like visuals. Mouse controls were added, producing a portal effect, but these were later replaced with mic volume inputs for a more immersive interaction. The project then transitioned from 2D to 3D, with the aim of achieving a disco ball-like structure. Ultimately, rotational movements along the X and Y axes with incremental angle adjustments were incorporated, adding depth and dynamism to the visuals.
The artwork was created using the P5.js editor, leveraging its capabilities to seamlessly integrate sound inputs with generative art, resulting in an engaging and immersive experience.
